Universities Involved in Power Electronic Systems

In the United States a consortium of five universities are heavily involved in the study of Power Electronic Systems. While not the only universities involved in power electronics research, the Center for Power Electronic Systems, or CPES, is recognized worldwide for its unique contributions to the study of power electronics. CPES was established in 1998 as one of our nation's relatively few National Science Foundation Engineering Research Centers. Its vision is to provide the nation with the capabilities to become a world leader in power electronics

The five Universities involved in CPES are Virginia Tech, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, North Carolina A&T State University and the University of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez. Each University has it own particular research specialty, however all five Universities work together in a coordinated fashion in order to share their research with each other as well as industry. Many student programs are also available that teach the state of the art science and math behind modern power electronics.
