Non-Conventional Energy

Over ten years ago, I was privileged to present a paper at Dr. Hans Nieper's first German Symposium of Gravitational Field Energy which resulted in an article describing it for Energy Unlimited magazine [1], The conference was, I believe, without precedence. Dr. Nieper wrote about the conference in a book he called Conversion of Gravity Field Energy [2]. He also revised the book into a later edition he called Dr. Nieper's Revolution in Technology, Medicine and Society [3], Dr. Nieper introduced so many revolutionary scientists at that one conference that several people on this side of the ocean invited them to attend a few similar conferences here in North America. Reference is made to the First, Second and Third international Symposia On Non-Conventional Energy Technology (ISONCET) held about a year apart in the U.S. and Canada by the Planetary Association for Clean Energy (PACE) [4]. George Hathaway, who was the Chairman of the First ISONCET, even coined the new word "non-conventional" to describe the innovative effort he saw occurring [5], Since then, the phrase has retained its value and meaning, demonstrated by the fact that even the U.S. Army picked up the phrase to use in its own SBIR solicitations! Starting in the early 1980's, the United States Psychotronics Association [6] also became a rich and vital arena for free energy (definition to follow) presentations and debates by notable Ph.D's. In 1984, the International Tesla Society (ITS) picked up where the three symposia left off and has sponsored non- conventional ener gy technology (NCET) conferences every two years since then [7]. In 1986, AZ Industries held an NCET conference, entitled "Meeting of the Minds" in Temecula, CA to gather more speakers and prototypes together [8]. In 1989, the Swiss joined the movement, with the Swiss Association for Free Energy (SAFE), and sponsored their own conference which was very well attended and simultaneously translated in English and German for the audience [9]. Since this author was an invited speaker at the conferences mentioned above, the article serves as a firsthand summary and primer for those who may have missed this small Energy Revolution.

Whenever NCET generators and propulsion methods are suggested, visions of perpetual motion, levitation, antigravity, and UFO's are conjured up as well. The history of NCET reads like a detective novel, full of intrigue, persecution, suspense, high stakes, secrecy, sell-outs, geniuses, criminals, fakes and lunatics.

Starting with a book like The Sea of Energy, in Which the Earth Floats, by T. Henry Moray [10], one can get a feeling for the excitement surrounding these inventions, especially when their discoveries have been replicated, as Moray's has (see Nuclear Battery section). Without going into an extensive historical review, the reader is referred to Cadake Industries [4], High Energy Enterprises [7], and Energy Unlimited Publications [11] for more detailed information. The rest of this article will center on new viable methods for energy generation and propulsion.

Since the phrase "free energy" appears in much of the NCET literature, it is important to attempt a popular definition before proceeding any further. In thermodynamics, Gibbs free energy or Hemholtz free energy is really the_capacity of a system to perform work, after temperature, entropy and enthalpy are considered. In the NCET tradition, free energy has the same meaning as long as the energy is free of chargel Since this may be hard to pin down, a more formal definition would be "any energy generation method that produces a net energy output which exceeds the total energy input by some measurable quantity, thus activating some potential energy in the environment." Researchers look tor the "over-unity" ratio when calculating energy output versus input as a proof of free energy. Examples actually are already in use: ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC), over-unity heat pumps and even solar and wind energy. However, many examples of interest to free energy enthusiasts are the NCET type. We can define NCET as "any unusual or unique method for energy generation which anticipates or necessitates a further development in theoretical physics." While most are like OTEC, the best NCET invention would be similar to a solar cell, where the over-unity ratio is infinite since no energy investment is needed to obtain the electrical energy output. To the engineer who knows how to measure watts per sq. cm. for sunlight, this may be a confusing calculation of energy conversion. The best answer is that the use of a solar cell would look just like magical free energy to a 19th century scientist. NCET over-unity devices look the same way to us until future physicists take for granted zero- point energy densities, neutrino flux densities, etc. along with their corresponding energy transducers. NCET inventions can be grouped with alternative energy as well, since ecological principles guide the developers to analyze any biological and environmental impact, great or small. NCET examples are to be found throughout the remainder of this paper.

"When nature is eventually seen as refusing to express itself in the accepted language, the crisis explodes with the kind of violence that results from a breach of confidence" says Prigogine and Stengers [12]. Thomas Kuhn, in The Structure of Scientific Revolutions describes a clear pattern that can be witnessed when paradigm shifts are about to occur. A vital part of the shift is when the old language and theory does not explain the new phenomena. Many of us believe that we are experiencing that today with NCET inventions. A good example that comes to mind is the spectacular Hutchison Effect captured on film by engineer Hathaway who also reproduced the experiments with two Van de Graffs and a Tesla coil, levitating a 20 lb. vise, along with lighter objects, reported to the Third ISONCET.

The Integrity Research institute

Since a real energy revolution is still waiting to happen, a decade after the First ISONCET, the Integrity Research Institute was formed to scientifically research and develop viable NCET inventions with private support for public benefit. Disasters such as the Challenger Space Shuttle, compared to an overgrown roman candle, and the Mideast war, reclaiming oil reserves, have driven home the primitive state of energy and propulsion in which we find ourselves as every major city chokes in its self- created smog. NCET research is no longer a speculative curiosity. It is a necessity required to provide clean transportation and avert the next energy crisis when conventional energy becomes scarce and unaffordable.

The Institute's purpose centers on energy usage in its broadest sense, researching non-conventional energy and transportation (NEXT Division), energy medicine, and the biological effects of energy distribution, such as electromagnetic pollution. Integrity Research Institute is nonprofit and devoted to research and public education.

What follows is an overview of the many promising areas of the NEXT investigation, without attempting to be comprehensive in scope. The basic principles of non-conventional energy and propulsion, along with the concepts behind some amazing inventions are presented
